So, here’s the thing… I say stuff a lot. I assume it is all stolen or borrowed from someone or some movie or some song. What is below is a list of stuff I say that I can think of at this point and where, I think, it may have come from.

  • “Here’s the thing…” one of the more consistent parts of my repertoire. Spoken to underscore an “important” summation. Very old; no idea where it’s from.
  • “Now that’s a true fact.” Agreement with someone else’s summation or pithy observation. This is a Vertexism.
  • “That is wrong on so many levels.” I got this from Amariah. It stuck and I’ve used it on many occasions. [Addition since the original post - I also use the phrase, "I'm not sayin' - I'm just sayin'." Which I also got from Amariah... she's like a queen of phraseology as I'm sure there are many others I have learned from her.]
  • “I’m Gross.” My last name is “Gross.” I say this to annoy people.
  • “That’s defunkatated.” Describes something strangely weird. Stole this from Carrie years ago (even though she asked me not to… sorry).
  • “I don’t want a pickle… just wanna ride my motor-sickle.” Always sung… this is, of course, from Arlo Guthrie. I hate pickles you see.
  • “How bizzah.” From some awful song… but it just stuck and pops up now and again.
  • “That was the last domino to fall on the freaky train.” Describes the final event in a series of connected coincidences. Only used twice… very new.

If you know of any others that are habitual that I’ve used or if you’d like to share your own… just post a comment, or post to your blog and link… or just jot it down on a note and keep it a secret. Whatever.
